I wish I could be one of those people who sees something they love and is capable of immediately running to their own home to make adjustments to something they don’t love. I’m not one of those people. I have disliked my “toaster” countertop for well over a year now. The green bowls that held fruit and bread were cute but not really functional (the stand was too close to the upper cabinets making it difficult to get things in and out). The rooster canisters were given to me as a wedding present and I really liked them and have used them for numerous different assignments over the years; unfortunately they were ALL broken in at least one place. I really needed to do something different.
For Christmas my Mother-in-law gave me these awesome red canisters:

And I was so excited to replace the broken roosters. Remember, decorating is NOT my thing: This is what I started with

As with any project I first had to start with a clean slate:

This was my final result:

I like the finished product because it feels so clean, yet it still functions as our toast making space. I had hoped to put the bread basket in there somewhere but the basket I decided to use was too tall, so it lives on the opposite counter.
For those of you who are more decorating minded, what would you have done differently?
